Mrs. Deanna Marshall

Director of Bands, AHS

Deanna Marshall is the Director of Bands at Auburn High School.  This is her 23rd year in teaching and 15th year teaching in Auburn City Schools.  Deanna received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music Education with a concentration in Instrumental Music from Auburn University.  She taught 6-12 grade band for eight years in Cartersville and Lagrange, Georgia before coming back to Auburn to work at Drake Middle School.  Mrs. Marshall taught seventh-grade beginning band for nine years at Drake Middle School before moving to Auburn High School as the Director of Bands in 2017. 

 

Mrs. Marshall was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2008-09 at Long Cane Middle School in LaGrange, GA, and in 2010-11 at Drake Middle School in Auburn, AL.  She was also the Secondary Teacher of the Year for Auburn City Schools in that same year. Mrs. Marshall is a member of the National Association for Music Education, an honorary member of Tau Beta Sigma, and the founding Chapter Advisor for the Auburn High School Tri-M Chapter. Mrs. Marshall currently serves as the Chairman of District VI of the Alabama Bandmasters Association.

 

All bands under the direction of Mrs. Marshall have consistently received superior ratings at all AMEA/GMEA events including LGPE, MPA, Solo and Ensemble, and All-State events. Mrs. Marshall has also led the Auburn High School Marching Band to be a winning competitive marching ensemble.  In addition, she has also started the Winter Guard International (WGI) Indoor Drumline program during her tenure at AHS. 

 

Mrs. Marshall enjoys spending time with her spouse Keri, daughters Emma Kate (10) and Laurel (8), doing yard work, watching movies, and listening to music.
