ABOUT US

Auburn City Schools are located in the "loveliest village on the plains" Auburn, Alabama: home of Auburn University. After stellar music education in our local elementary schools, Auburn band students begin instrumental instruction in the seventh grade at the East Samford School with Mrs. Kim Chenier

The Auburn Junior High School band program is in its thirteenth year under the direction of Mr. Joshua Wine and has a current membership of over 200 students in 8th & 9th grade. The AJHS Program houses three full concert bands, and also offers Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Methods, Musicology Club, and band students in the ninth grade may elect to participate in the Auburn High School Marching Band.

Students in grades 10-12 are directed by Auburn High School Director of Bands, Mrs. Deanna Marshall with assistance from Mr. Shawn Geiger. In addition to the offerings experienced at AJHS, AHS offers a second jazz band, AP and entry-level Music Theory courses, Show Choir Band, Musical Theatre Orchestra, and our Music Honor Society, Tri-M. AHS also serves as the home for the 200-member, award-winning AHS Marching Band. The Auburn High School Band Program is the 1987 recipient of the Sudler Flag of Honor awarded by the John Phillip Sousa Foundation, the highest honor that can be bestowed to a high school band program in the U.S.

The Bands of ACS perform for the annual Fall and Spring Concerts, End of the Year Concerts, Music Performance Assessment, and a myriad of other performances and appearances. The bands of ACS are supported by the incomparable Auburn Band Boosters Association (ABBA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides tireless support for our teachers and students from beginner band to high school graduation and beyond.

Previous performances by the Bands of Auburn City Schools include the STARS Performance Series at Universal Studios, Festival Disney, Alabama Music Educators Association In-Service Conference (four times), the Southeastern United States Band Clinic, and was the first high school band ever invited to the College Band Directors National Association/National Band Association Southern Division Conference. Parade performances by the AHSMB have taken students to locales around the world, including Chicago, San Antonio, , Washington D.C., Orlando, and London, among many others.
